Logan Tom lead Utah's Highland HS to two state championships in '97-'98 before becoming the youngest player in history (19) to play for the Olympic Team (Sydney). She went on to play in three more consecutive Olympics.

Karch Kiraly's high school volleyball team won the state champion title in 1978 for Santa Barbara HS. He was invited to play on the Jr National Team and he has stated he learned the value of hard work and dedication from his coach Rick Olmstead.
Enrolling in UCLA in biochemistry as a freshman, Karch led the college team to the NCAA championship in 1979, then again in '81 and '82, going undefeated twice and being named Outstanding Player of the Year twice. Kiraly led the US National Team to volleyball gold in the 1984 Summer Olympics, then again in 1988.
